1920s era Texaco Gas Pump — full-size replica Background: Gasoline pumps early on were not used where electricity was always available and this pump was operated by hand and gravity. The attendant would use the crank to pump the gas into the transparent container near the top of the pump. When the level of gas reached the location of the desired amount of gasoline the attendant would stop. He then would put the hose and dispenser into the gas tank of the car and open a valve under the glass tank releasing the gas. Gravity would let the gas from the glass tank into the car tank giving the customer the amount of gas they had requested. This replica gas pump does not pump gas and is not operational but makes for a great addition to any garage or man cave. Standing 7 feet 8 inches tall and floor base measures 20 inches by 20 inches. The globe lights up by plugging into a standard 120v outlet. Beautiful attention to detail. I’ve enjoyed this and now time to move to another care taker… The item “TEXACO GAS PUMP 1920s reproduction EXCELLENT Beautiful with Great Colors Lighted” is in sale since Thursday, March 30, 2017.
